Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.
Beginning at 6 months of age, my son started having very high fevers. At first I thought that he had a reaction to the raw goat's milk that I was giving him once a month.
By the time my son was 18 months old, I started to recognize a pattern of 3-5 days of fever every 3-5 weeks apart. Our regular doctor said that it was just his way of dealing with viruses that he was being exposed to in the church nursery.
Our chiropractor tested him for food allergies, and it turns out that my son had several strange allergies. We avoided those foods and started him on calcium and vitamin D, which he had tested as being deficient in.
The next few years were very difficult. My son would have fevers every month, starting at 102 degrees and spiking at 106 before going back down 5 days later.
We talked to every doctor in our practice. Their only recommendations were to keep my son hydrated and as comfortable as possible by alternating Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen every 3 hours around the clock.
If I forgot to set my alarm and give my son the medicine in the middle of the night, he would start vomiting and hallucinating from the high fevers. It was a very scary time.
Finally a new doctor came to our practice who recognized that this was more than just my son's body's way of fighting viruses. We were referred to several children's specialists in many departments of Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
After dozens of visits and tests ruling out more serious disease, they diagnosed my son with "nonspecific periodic fever syndrome". The doctors said that he would grow out of it eventually.
Although having a diagnosis certainly relieved my fears associated with my son's illness, it did nothing for helping the fevers. I hated the thought of continued heavy doses of analgesics every month for an indeterminate length of time!
I started searching for alternatives. A friend of mine introduced me to Young Living essential oils. We began using Peppermint and Lavender oil as soon as my son's next fever started.
In less than 30 minutes, my son's fever dropped from 102 to 99! I was ecstatic! Nothing we had previously tried had ever had that drastic of an effect!
Three hours later when his fever spiked again, I applied more Lavender and Peppermint with the same results. I was overjoyed!
For the last two years we have successfully used essential oils to cope with the high fevers and to allow my son's body and God's medicine to work together. He has been much happier and does not feel miserable for five days out of every month.
My son is almost 8 years old at this time and can now recognize when he is starting to get his fevers. We have been able to consistently keep his fevers below 102 for the past six months!

In vivo analysis and histological assay showed that the two essential oils displayed significant dose-dependent edema [swelling] inhibition effect over time. They displayed strong analgesic [pain-relieving] and antipyretic [fever-reducing] properties similar to that induced by 50 mg/kg of acetylsalicylate of lysine.... This work demonstrates the anti-inflammatory property of Cymbopogon citratus [Lemongrass] and Eucalyptus citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus], suggesting their potential role as adjuvant therapeutic alternatives in dealing with inflammatory-related diseases." | Link |

(Black cumin) has shown a broad spectrum of pharmacological effects like antipyretic [fever reducing], analgesic [pain reducing], anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.... The present study suggests the burn wound healing action of seeds may be due to anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of major compounds in the oil." | Link |
