Where do I begin? In 2004 I had back surgery and did not do all that I was supposed to do during recovery. Since then I have paid the price. After a while, major discomfort came back.
It started with severe pain in my left foot. Then the numbness in the foot started and continued up the leg. Eventually I started losing muscle in my calf. The left calf became at least one inch smaller than the right calf, and the skin color was off. My daughter asked if anyone has ever asked if my leg is fake.
Two years later the pain had started in the right foot. I then started having severe pain in the right side of my stomach area, up high. Every test that you could run on the gallbladder was run. Everything looked fine.
I had no insurance, and it was hard to get in to see a specialist. The doctor I was seeing at the time told me to go gluten free for one month, stick with it, and see what would happen.
I did so, and it was the hardest thing that I have ever done in my life! The first 3 weeks I ate organic meats, fresh vegetables, no bread of any kind, and nothing out of a package. I started feeling so much better!
Then I started eating out, and, yes once in a while I would get a reaction; within 45 minutes I always knew it.
I had other issues going on with me, including painful arthritis and major sinus issues.
I do not know what to give credit to for my healing because, when I started using the Young Living essential oils about 2 to 3 weeks ago, I put a mixture of Lemon, Peppermint, and Frankincense essential oils on my neck in the morning and evening and maybe once during the day.
Now my sinuses are clearing up! I have also been drinking NingXia Red juice, two ounces every morning. Oh, and I diffuse every night. Drinking lots of water with Lemon or Peppermint is helpful.
I am also trying different things for the pain in my back and joints with the other essential oils that came in the kit. I use Lemongrass, Frankincense, Valor, and Lavender mixed with olive oil. I keep it made up in a glass roller bottle. Whenever I start hurting in the joints, I pull out my roller bottle and am at ease in no time!
Okay, this was the big test...
I had at my house a few rolls left from a dinner party that were not gluten free, and they used to be my favorite. I had not had one of these rolls in over two years. Yes, I did it, I did not only eat one but two -- knowing I would be paying the price dearly. Well, nothing happened. Wow!
I told my daughter, who is great about policing what I eat. She told me to think of something that I really want to have but that I know would send me into a massive attack -- and eat it!
Well, three days later we went out to eat, and on the menu was a good old country chicken-fried steak with creamy gravy and a roll -- and yes, I did eat it. Nope, nothing happened! I have no idea what concoction I have been using that has helped, but this is great!
No, I will not go back to eating a full-blown gluten-laden diet. We eat so much healthier now, but it is nice to know that, when I go to a potluck, I can eat some of the food. I had gotten to the point that I was avoiding potluck dinners with friends and going out to eat with others because of the gluten thing.
Wow, this has been so overwhelming for me. I have had more energy, clearer thinking, and a general feeling of improvement. I will see how things go with the neuropathy in my feet.
If anyone has had some of the same results with the gluten issues, please let me know which thing I did to help. I have several friends who have gone gluten free for the same reason I did, and I would love to help them know what to take.
