Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

I have a testimonial to share. Actually I have two, but I am posting this one first. I apologize for the TMI (too much information) topic, but this is huge for our family!

I have a 7-year-old daughter who has been diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), ODD (oppositional defiant disorder), OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) tendencies, and anxiety. Among the many behavioral issues we deal with, there is one problem that has frustrated us beyond belief.

She has been incredibly hard to potty train to go pee and completely impossible to train for #2 (pooping). She has never been able to go #2 on the potty. For a while she would try regularly, but it has always ended in tears with her saying that she couldn't do it.

We have tried to address this when she was in counseling and even with the specialist at the University of VA, where we took her last year to be evaluated before she was diagnosed with ODD. They gave us a lot of ideas and things to try. They also told us that this was not an uncommon issue, especially with girls.

They said it could be:

* A mental block that was affecting her physically.
* A true physical problem where her colon was being bent wrong when sitting on the potty, making it impossible to go and making it easier to go with a pull-up on when she could stand and the colon would be straightened out more.
* Simple stubbornness.

We didn't know which it was, but hubby and I were quite tired of dealing with pull-ups with a 7-year-old. We had tried everything, even bribery. NOTHING worked. Fast forward to last week.

Since I got my essential oils, I have been occasionally oiling my daughter up, but not on a regular basis and not always with the oils recommended for ADHD, etc.

Last Friday I finally started with the essential oils that I had seen in a recipe and was layering them on her big toes, wrists, and brainstem. I used Vetiver, Cedarwood, Lavender and Frankincense. I oiled her before school and when she got home. My husband and I were sitting watching the news Friday evening, when suddenly we heard her voice yell, "I'm done!!!" We just looked at each other.

I had to check on dinner, so hubby went to see what she was doing. She was in the bathroom and had gone #2! We were totally shocked!

Saturday I oiled her up three times throughout the day. In the evening again we heard her call out from the bathroom!!! She had done it again!! Today I had mixed the following essential oils with grapeseed oil in a 5 ml roll-on:

* 5 drops Vetiver
* 5 drops Cedarwood
* 5 drops Lavender
* 2 drops of Frankincense

I applied this blend a couple of times throughout the day by rolling it on the bottom of her big toes, inside both wrists, and on her brainstem (nape of her neck). Just a little while ago she asked for one of her daddy's hunting magazines and skipped off to the bathroom for another successful trip!

Three days in a row of oiling her up and three days in a row of going to the bathroom is amazing!! Four and a half years we have waited, worked, and agonized over this!

I have always believed that it was a mental thing and had no idea how to help her psychologically get past it. She has even cried over not being able to go and has gotten very angry about it too.

I am not kidding that these essential oils were the answer! This blend cleared her mind, calmed her or really I'm not sure what but they've gotten through and allowed her to not be anxious or stressed. Out of nowhere she had the motivation and focus and ability to do it and the desire to try!!! No one even mentioned it to her on any of the last three days.

She came to me a little bit ago with a huge proud smile and said "Mommy, I can do it now. Just like everybody else! I can do it now!!" Oh my word, ya'll just don't know how excited and proud we are!

I almost didn't post this testimonial because this is something that has affected me and caused me to be embarrassed as a mom because I felt like I had failed as a mom in this area. I didn't know how to help her or fix this and I have always been afraid of what people would think of me having a seven year old with this issue.

So thank you for letting me share and I apologize that it is kind of a TMI topic, but it is a testimony of how these oils can help with anything!!!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: behavior,emotions-/-feelings — "The present study indicated that lavender aromatherapy as a potential therapeutic modality could alleviate premenstrual emotional symptoms, which, at least in part, is attributable to the improvement of parasympathetic nervous system activity. This study further implies that HRV could evaluate the efficacy of aromatherapy using various fragrances to relieve premenstrual symptoms, and ultimately, support the mind and body health of women."Link
2.Associated topics: anxiety-/-worry — "After inhalation of clary sage oil, cortisol levels were significantly decreased.... Thyroid stimulating hormone was also reduced.... Clary sage oil has antidepressant-like effect...."Link
3.Associated topics: anxiety-/-worry — "Lavender, mint [peppermint], orange, rose, chamomile, rosemary, and sage were used.... Depression levels in the touch-music-aroma therapy group... showed a larger decrease than in the... control groups [that did not include aromatherapy].... [FMS] symptoms such as restless sleep, headache, morning fatigue, exhaustion, feeling like crying, and bowel complaints were also significantly reduced."Link
4.Associated topics: behavior,emotions-/-feelings,anxiety-/-worry — "Beta-Caryophyllene [component of cannabis, clove, copaiba], a CB2 [cannabinoid] receptor agonist produces multiple behavioral changes relevant to anxiety and depression in mice.... these preclinical results suggest that CB2 receptors may provide alternative therapeutic targets for the treatment of anxiety and depression. The possibility that BCP may ameliorate the symptoms of these mood disorders offers exciting prospects for future studies."Link
5.Associated topics: behavior,anxiety-/-worry — "A number of essential oils are currently in use as aromatherapy agents to relieve anxiety, stress, and depression. Popular anxiolytic oils include lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), rose (Rosa damascena), orange (Citrus sinensis), bergamot (Citrus aurantium), lemon (Citrus limon), sandalwood (Santalum album), clary sage (Salvia sclarea), Roman chamomile (Anthemis nobilis), and rose-scented geranium (Pelargonium spp.)."Link
6.Associated topics: behavior,anger-/-frustration,anxiety-/-worry — "Most studies, as well as clinically applied experience, have indicated that various essential oils, such as lavender, lemon and bergamot can help to relieve stress, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders. Most notably, inhalation of essential oils can communicate signals to the olfactory system and stimulate the brain to exert neurotransmitters (e.g. serotonin and dopamine), thereby further regulating mood."Link
7.Associated topics: behavior,anxiety-/-worry — "The ylang ylang oil caused a significant decrease of blood pressure and a significant increase of skin temperature. At the behavioral level, subjects in the ylang ylang oil group rated themselves more calm and more relaxed than subjects in the control group. These findings are likely to represent a relaxing effect of the ylang ylang oil and provide some evidence for the usage of the ylang ylang oil in aromatherapy such as causing a relief of depression and stress in humans."Link
8.Associated topics: behavior,emotions-/-feelings,anxiety-/-worry — "Lavender essential oil has been used as an anxiolytic [anxiety] drug, a mood stabilizer, a sedative, spasmolytic [muscle spasms], antihypertensive [high blood pressure], antimicrobial, analgesic [pain] agent as well as a wound healing accelerator.... The present study suggests that inhalation of lavender essential oil may be an effective and safe treatment modality in acute management of migraine headaches."Link
