I thought that I might have pink eye. Because I was breastfeeding a baby and going on vacation soon, I wanted to have the doctor check me out, just to make sure.
So I went in and ended up spending $150 for the deductible (super ridiculous since we have what we considered good insurance before it all started changing). The doctor said, "Yes, it is pink eye." He then gave me a prescription for eye drops that he claimed would be safe for a breastfeeding mother to use.
So another $35 later I had the prescription eye drops in my hand. However, right on the bottle it said, "Do not use if you are pregnant, may be pregnant, or are nursing!"
So I called the doctor's office, and they said that the warning is only for if I were drinking it (drinking eye drops?) And it was totally safe -- but to do it right after a breastfeeding, just to be on the safe side. Seriously?
At that point I had decided to look up essential oils for pinkeye and came across lots of ideas. So I chose to put the prescription eye drops just in the eye that was really bad and to use the Purification oil blend on the bone around my other eye. I did this again at bedtime as well.
In the morning, the eye that I had applied the oil was completely cleared up, and the eye that had gotten the prescription eye drops was still pink... not as bad as before, but still pink.
So that is when I decided to use the Purification oil blend on the area around the bad eye too. Before I even got downstairs it was already starting to look so much better. There was nearly no discomfort either!
So basically I just wasted $185 on a doctor visit and prescription eye drops, when I could have used a few drops of Purification, which I already had on hand.
And we all know how much more Purification oil I could have purchased for $185!
