I Thought Cat Urine Ruined Carpet!

I had an elderly cat who had become ill a few years ago and she could not get into her litter box without help. I was working extremely long hours, 12+ every day, and she would have accidents due to not being well. I thought my carpet was ruined and would have to be replaced, but decided to try some essential oils first.

I took a container and placed about 2 cups of baking soda in the container then added 1ml of Lemon essential oil. I also sprinkled probably about 10-15 drops into the carpet where it was directly soiled by the kitty.

I then took the baking soda mixture and spread it over the carpet of the entire room and concentrated on the soiled area with twice as much baking soda.

Following that I took a broom and rubbed this into my carpet well and let it sit over night.

I then vacuumed the carpet 24 hours later after the application.

I also decided to use my carpet shampooer. So I filled the it with water as hot as I could get it from the faucet and added about 15 drops of lemon oil once it was in the holding tank and shook it. Then I shampooed the carpet with this hot water mixture twice.

I have not once smelled cat urine since doing this and that room has been used daily for at least 2 years.

Aren't high quality essential oils wonderful!
