Buyer beware.
My pet, a German shepherd, was at my parent's farm in Missouri last August. While there he contracted a large tick in his ear which we didn't notice until later when his ear turned red and crusty. He also heavy eye discharge... a nasty infection. Fortunately we were able to remove the tick successfully.
At this time we had just been learning about essential oils from our chiropractor, whose father is a Vetrinarian in a small town in Iowa (we live in Chicago).
Our chiropractor said to put 2 drops of Frankincense oil on the crown of our dog's head. Then mix 2 drops of Lavender oil with 4 drops of a carrier oil like Sweet Almond oil. The chiropractor had us rub this oil mixture on the inside of his ears, daily until the infection was gone. This protocol worked successfully!
Before the ear infection was completely gone, however, we took our dog to a veterinarian to identify the infection. The veterinarian said it was just an infection and wanted to know what we were treating the dog with. We showed him the bottles of Frankincense and Lavender. He was surprised and said keep using them because they're working!
