Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.
So I had a terrible night with achy muscles and joint pain and constipation. Enough to make me get up in the early hours and sleep on the couch to get comfortable.
Later that morning I started experiencing cramping and a fever.
After being lethargic all day but unable to sleep due to the fever, I looked up a testimonial that said a woman used Peppermint oil every 30 minutes on her husband's fever and it worked in reducing it.
So I set my timer and did the same. I applied 2-3 drops of Peppermint on my feet every 30 minutes.
Well sometime in the early night, my fever must have broken because I sleep like a baby. I woke up feeling like a completely new person! I still have some throat discomfort, but nothing compared to yesterday.
Thank you Peppermint oil!

1. | Associated topics: sore-/-scratchy-throat — "The antibacterial activity of 14 essential oils and their major constituents in the gaseous state was evaluated against [respiratory tract pathogens] Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. [The] oils [with cinnamon bark, lemongrass, and thyme being most potent] and their major constituents were shown to be effective against various bacteria tested.... These results indicate that the antibacterial action of essential oils was most effective when at high vapor concentration for a short time." | Link |
2. | Associated topics: fever-/-febrile -/-temperature-/-(Pyrexia) — "[W]e studied the anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective effects of C. citratus [Lemongrass] and E. citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus] essential oils on formol-induced edema and acetic acid induced abdominal cramps in Wistar rats.... In vivo analysis and histological assay showed that the two essential oils displayed significant dose-dependent edema [swelling] inhibition effect over time. They displayed strong analgesic [pain-relieving] and antipyretic [fever-reducing] properties similar to that induced by 50 mg/kg of acetylsalicylate of lysine.... This work demonstrates the anti-inflammatory property of Cymbopogon citratus [Lemongrass] and Eucalyptus citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus], suggesting their potential role as adjuvant therapeutic alternatives in dealing with inflammatory-related diseases." | Link |
3. | Associated topics: sore-/-scratchy-throat — "Streptococcus pyogenes [strep] plays an important role in the pathogenesis of tonsillitis.... [T]hyme, cinnamon, lemongrass, tea tree, lavender, oregano, clove, palmarosa, or cajeput [melaleuca] EOs [essential oils] are known to be active against Streptococcus pyogenes, while oregano, basil, mint [peppermint], rosemary, and lavender EOs are known to inhibit another Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus [staph].... We showed that cinnamon presented the higher activity against S. pyogenes compared to the other EOs tested.... 14 [essential oils] showed antibacterial activity against Streptococcus pyogenes.... Among them Cinnamomum verum [cinnamon bark], Cymbopogon citratus [Xiang Mao], Thymus vulgaris CT thymol [thyme], Origanum compactum [oregano], and Satureja montana [Mountain Savory] essential oils exhibited significant antibacterial activity. The in vitro results reported here suggest that, for patients suffering from bacterial throat infections, if aromatherapy is used, these essential oils, considered as potential antimicrobial agents, should be preferred." | Link |
4. | Associated topics: constipation-/-irregularity — "A 4 weeks treatment with peppermint oil improves abdominal symptoms in patients with irritable bowel syndrome.... The symptoms evaluated were: abdominal bloating, abdominal pain or discomfort, diarrhea, constipation, feeling of incomplete evacuation, pain at defecation, passage of gas or mucus, and urgency at defecation." | Link |
5. | Associated topics: fever-/-febrile -/-temperature-/-(Pyrexia) — "Burn Healing Potential of Nigella sativa seed oil in rats.... Nigella sativa L. (Black cumin) has shown a broad spectrum of pharmacological effects like antipyretic [fever reducing], analgesic [pain reducing], anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.... The present study suggests the burn wound healing action of seeds may be due to anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of major compounds in the oil." | Link |
6. | Associated topics: sore-/-scratchy-throat — "[T]he antibacterial activity of lemongrass oil (LG) and its major components (citral, geraniol, and myrcene) against four strains of clinically isolated bovine mastitis pathogens (Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Bacillus cereus, and Escherichia coli).., as well as their activity on S. aureus biofilm formation [were investigated].... [T]hey inhibit S. aureus biofilm formation and exhibit effective killing activities on preformed biofilms." | Link |
