I work with kids and the whole center was getting the flu. There were multiple strains going around and at this point almost everyone at the center had gotten the flu or stomach bug at least once in the past month. This included me.
I had the stomach bug last month and that was the first time I had thrown up since elementary school! I was not taking any immune supporting oils at that time. I ordered Young Living's Inner Defense soft gels to support my immune system because I did not want anything to do with the flu or stomach bug again! Especially since there were so many different strains going around at the center getting people sick multiple times!
So, fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I started to get a back ache. At first i didn't think much of it, then the second day it was A LOT worse for no reason. I know that this was an early sign of the flu and I was pretty sure if I did nothing, I would have gotten the flu. Especially because the other staff members who got it, said their first symptoms were back pain for no reason.
So, luckily, my Inner Defense soft gels arrived the second day of my backache. I ended up taking 2 capsules around 3 pm and 1 capsule before bed. I woke up and my back pain was gone! I continued to take 3 capsules a day for the next 5 days, and 1 capsule a day for the 4 days following that. I also ordered Super C tablets after that, in which I take 3 times a day as recommended on the bottle for added immune support.
I am going to keep taking Inner Defense 2 times a week until the bottle runs out to support my immune system while the flu bugs are still very prevalent at the center.

1. | Associated topics: flu-(Influenza) — "Taken together, we found an essential oil blend [Orange, Clove, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary] notably attenuates influenza virus PR8 infection in vitro via inhibition of viral protein synthesis at the post-transcription level. The lack of toxicity and potent specific inhibition ability make the essential oil a possible antiviral drug for influenza virus proliferation control and treatment." | Link |
2. | Associated topics: back-pain — "We examined the evidence regarding the effect of herbal medicine on pain in people with non-specific low-back pain (LBP).... Lavender essential oil applied by acupressure appeared effective in reducing pain and improving flexibility compared to conventional treatment." | Link |
3. | Associated topics: immune-system — "DHEA [a component of PD 80/20], an androstene hormone [precursor to estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, cortisone, and other hormones], has been shown to possess a wide range of beneficial biological effects mainly attributed to immune system modulation.... thus leading to beneficial effects in diverse human diseases including resistance to infection, neuroprotection, wound healing, diabetes, hepatic injury, cardiovascular disease, and cancer." | Link |
4. | Associated topics: immune-system — "Immunomodulatory activity of frankincense oil: Biologically, the oil exhibited a strong immunostimulant activity (90% lymphocyte transformation) when assessed by a lymphocyte proliferation assay." | Link |
5. | Associated topics: immune-system — "Anti-inflammatory, spasmolytic [muscle spasms], antimicrobial, antioxidant, carminative [flatulence] and immunomodulatory properties of caraway suggest that it might exert beneficial effects on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).... CHE and CEO [caraway essential oil] at all doses tested were effective in reducing colon tissue lesions and colitis indices and the efficacy was nearly the same when different doses of plant fractions were administered p.o. or i.p..... These data suggest that caraway fractions are both effective and possess anti-colitic activity irrespective of the dose and route of administration." | Link |
6. | Associated topics: immune-system — "These results suggest that the volatile oil of ginger influences both cell-mediated immune response and nonspecific proliferation of T lymphocyte, and may exert beneficial effects in a number of clinical conditions, such as chronic inflammation and autoimmune diseases." | Link |
