Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

It's hard to believe, but at age 55 I've got a few mercury fillings in my teeth that are over 50 years old. This was the result of the drill 'em 'n fill 'em era I grew up in, hence the daunting challenge of gum issues I've suffered over the years, most notably the past decade.

In spite of diligent dental care, I suffer incessant gum bleeding regardless of how often I floss. Also I have painful abscesses I try to hide from my dentist because I don't want to hear "root canal".

About a year ago, at my wits end over an abscess that had been vacating on my upper gum for over two weeks, I decided to apply a drop of Tea Tree oil. I could not believe that within 24 hours it completely vanished - and I do mean completely vanished!

Since then, I discovered oil pulling, which uses a base of coconut oil, and do my best to incorporate this swishing practice each morning with two drops of Clove oil. If I'm unable to fit it in because of time restraints, I at least add a drop of Clove on my toothbrush. I wish I had paid better attention, but I truly cannot recall the last time my gums bled during flossing.

My hygienist could not believe the improvement in my mouth! When I reported what I had been doing, I was shocked to hear her say, "You can't imagine how many patients are doing what you're doing - I swear oil pulling is going to put us out of business!!"

I love my oils!

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: abscessed-tooth,dental,tooth-/-teeth,gums,gum-disease,cavities-/-caries-/-decay — Study 1: "[Oil pulling] would benefit the general population by giving more confidence in the ancient practices, thus preventing tooth decay and loss." Study 2: "Oil pulling therapy has been equally effective like chlorhexidine on halitosis and organisms, associated with halitosis." Study 3: "The oil pulling therapy showed a reduction in the plaque index, modified gingival scores, and total colony count of aerobic microorganisms in the plaque of adolescents with plaque-induced gingivitis." Study 4: "Oil pulling can be used as an effective preventive adjunct in maintaining and improving oral health." Study 5: "The myth that the effect of oil-pulling therapy on oral health was just a placebo effect has been broken, and there are clear indications of possible saponification and emulsification process, which enhances its mechanical cleaning action."Link
2.Associated topics: bleed-/-hemorrhage — "[T]he level and duration of menstrual pain and the amount of menstrual bleeding were significantly lower in the aromatherapy group than in the placebo group. These results suggest that aromatherapy is effective in alleviating menstrual pain, its duration, and excessive menstrual bleeding. Aromatherapy can be provided as a nonpharmacological pain relief measure and as a part of nursing care given to girls suffering of dysmenorrhea or excessive menstrual bleeding."Link
3.Associated topics: bleed-/-hemorrhage — "[A] pulverized mixture of four herbs including Agrimonia Eupatoria (A), Nelumbo Nucifera Gaertn (N), Boswellia Carteri (B) [Frankincense], and Pollen Typhae Angustifoliae (P)... was first described in Chinese canonical medicine about 2000 years ago for treatment of various trauma disorders, such as hemostasis [bleeding], anti-inflammatory, analgesia [pain], and wound healing, etc.... [W]e showed that local ANBP treatment not only significantly enhanced wound healing by relieving inflammation, increasing formation of granulation tissue, and accelerating re-epithelialization, but [it] also reduced scar formation by decreasing collagen production [and] protuberant height and volume of scars and [by] increasing collagen maturity.... [Results show that ANBP] promot[es] wound healing and alleviat[es] scar formation, which may be an effective therapy for human wounds at the earliest stage."Link
4.Associated topics: abscessed-tooth,dental,tooth-/-teeth,gums,cavities-/-caries-/-decay — "Both clove and benzocaine gels had significantly lower mean pain scores than placebos. No significant difference was observed between clove and benzocaine regarding pain scores. Clove gel might possess a potential to replace benzocaine as a topical [anesthetic] agent before needle insertion."Link
