I am new to the therapeutic use of essential oils, however, since I have so many physical ailments, I started to use them and now take a couple with me at all times.
I am a counselor and work in a local high school. One day, a parent lost control because of her son's misbehavior in school and started to yell and scream and tried to hit him.
After trying all of the techniques to calm her down, I finally decided on the oils. I was a little nervous about it and had to come up with a way to do this without her turning her anger on me and really creating more problems.
I pulled the bottle of Lavender oil out of my purse, opened it and asked her to smell it. She did so. Was I surprised to see her shoulders drop about 2 inches with the first inhalation.
I expected her to give it back to me, however, she kept it for a few minutes and continued to inhale very deeply. I just sat there awe struck and so did her son. When she gave it back to me, I explained what it was and why I thought it might help.
The conference ended about 10 minutes later and she had remained calm and her color had changed as well.
The benefits of Lavender oil include relaxation and easing stress, so I believe it helped her to focus and calmed the mother and son.
