Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.
I have taken medication for high blood pressure for years but after using oils from Young Living I no longer have to. I tried several different single oils to lower it and came up with my own blend.
I apply 2 drops each morning and night on my carotid arteries and heart (could also be applied to any pulse point). I haven't taken medication for a year now and it stays under control. I go for days sometimes without using the oil and my BP stays around 120/75.
I have very little swelling unless I stand for an excessive amount of time or I don't drink enough water. I put Peppermint oil and Lemon oil, 2 drops each in a bottle of water each day to help with the swelling. Everyone is different so monitor your BP closely if you use any of the oils.
I have had clients continue taking medication while using the oils and their BP gets too low. I'm not advocating people stop taking their medication. Each individual has to decide which route is best for them, but the most important thing to remember is that you have to monitor your BP closely until you get the right amount to apply.
My blend:
* 20 drops Patchouli
* 25 drops Ylang Ylang
* 50 drops Lavender
* 20 drops Orange
* 10 drops Lemon
* 20 drops Cypress
Mix together in a glass bottle

1. | Associated topics: edema-/-water-retention-/-dropsy — "[W]e studied the anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective effects of C. citratus [Lemongrass] and E. citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus] essential oils on formol-induced edema and acetic acid induced abdominal cramps in Wistar rats.... In vivo analysis and histological assay showed that the two essential oils displayed significant dose-dependent edema [swelling] inhibition effect over time. They displayed strong analgesic [pain-relieving] and antipyretic [fever-reducing] properties similar to that induced by 50 mg/kg of acetylsalicylate of lysine.... This work demonstrates the anti-inflammatory property of Cymbopogon citratus [Lemongrass] and Eucalyptus citriodora [Lemon Eucalyptus], suggesting their potential role as adjuvant therapeutic alternatives in dealing with inflammatory-related diseases." | Link |
2. | Associated topics: hypertension,blood-pressure — "The ylang ylang oil caused a significant decrease of blood pressure and a significant increase of skin temperature. At the behavioral level, subjects in the ylang ylang oil group rated themselves more calm and more relaxed than subjects in the control group. These findings are likely to represent a relaxing effect of the ylang ylang oil and provide some evidence for the usage of the ylang ylang oil in aromatherapy such as causing a relief of depression and stress in humans." | Link |
3. | Associated topics: hypertension,blood-pressure — "Lavender essential oil has been used as an anxiolytic [anxiety] drug, a mood stabilizer, a sedative, spasmolytic [muscle spasms], antihypertensive [high blood pressure], antimicrobial, analgesic [pain] agent as well as a wound healing accelerator.... The present study suggests that inhalation of lavender essential oil may be an effective and safe treatment modality in acute management of migraine headaches." | Link |
4. | Associated topics: heart — "Myrtle oil (MO) exerts hypoglycemic as well as mild hypotriglyceridemic activity in diabetic animals. The reduction in blood glucose level may be due to the reversible inhibition of alpha-glucosidases present in the brush-border of the small intestinal mucosa, higher rate of glycolysis as envisaged by the higher activity of glucokinase, as one of the key enzymes of glycolysis, and enhanced rate of glycogenesis as evidenced by the higher amount of liver glycogen present after MO administration." | Link |
5. | Associated topics: heart,blood-pressure — "[I]dentifying... the effects of YYA [ylang ylang aroma] on blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) is important in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of YYA. The present results demonstrated that inhalation of YYA significantly decreased the systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Inhalation of YYA also significantly decreased the HRs in 10 leads.... In the present results, YYA caused a reduction of HR and BP, and a relief of the arousal level in healthy men. The present results show a sedative effect of YYA, and this study provides some evidences for the usage of YYA [as a] medicinal agent." | Link |
6. | Associated topics: heart,hypertension,blood-pressure — "Aromatherapy... [consisting of] a blend of oils of lemon (Citrus limonum), lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), and ylang ylang (Cananga odorata)... is effective in lowering systolic blood pressure and sympathetic nerve system activity... of heart rate variability." | Link |
