I love using essential oils on my lovebird.
Specifically, I have diffused Purification essential oil blend on New Year's Eve when fireworks and smoke were everywhere. The bird was in an adjoining room with the sliding doors wide open, and he did very well!
And when my lovebird looks like he is under the weather and droopy...
I have rubbed Frankincense essential oil on his feet and beak. He has even nibbled my finger with the Frankincense on it. I also add Lemon essential oil to his water. I just get some Lemon oil on a toothpick and then dip the toothpick in his water.
Within a day, my lovebird always perks up and is back to his active self again.
