Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.
A couple of days ago I awoke with a white spot on my nipple. I am breastfeeding my son, and found out this spot is caused by a blocked milk duct, which occurs from skin inside the breast growing over it. It was a bit painful to touch and hurt while he fed from that side.
The advice I received from the Australian Breastfeeding Association was to use a warm compress before feeding, in hope that it would dislodge during the feeding time. I could also try rubbing it gently with the cloth, which hurt and did not work! They advised that if it did not dislodge soon, to go to a GP and get it removed with medical tweezers, before the milk behind it got too backed up.
I have been using Young Living oils for a couple for months, so I looked up some of my resources and initially tried Lavender oil for the rest of that day. I put a drop on a cotton bud and applied it to the spot several times but it didn't seem to be helping. Before bed that night I switched to the Purification oil blend, applying it the same way. (I washed it off before breastfeeding).
The next morning it felt a bit better so I kept going with Purification all day, applying it every couple of hours. I could feel it was improving, and by last night it was hardly visible.
This morning it is gone, there is no pain and my milk is flowing freely!
