Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.
Back in September 2010 I had been suffering with chilblains on the middle toe of each foot and one night it was so red and driving me crazy with the itch that I had to do something.
I have not suffered with chilblains since I was at school so was rather surprised that it was showing up again.
I searched through my trusty essential oils reference book but I was unable to find a reference to chilblains. I also went through what other resources I had with no luck. I reached for my oils kit and decided that I would give Peppermint a try. I dropped one drop on each toe and instantly the itching stopped - left a cooling effect too.
The next morning when I awoke the chilblains were gone and have not returned since and that was some 18 months ago.
I just love these oils.

chilblains, frostbite - "Topical high-concentration L-menthol is the only established human experimental pain model to study mechanisms underlying cold hyperalgesia. We aimed at investigating the combinatorial effect of cold stimuli and topical L-menthol on cold pain and secondary mechanical hyperalgesia. Cold detection threshold and cold pain threshold (CPT) increased after L-menthol and remained high after the cold rekindling cycles.... Skin blood flow increased after L-menthol and stayed stable after cold cycles. Repeated application of cold on skin treated by L-menthol facilitated and prolonged L-menthol-induced cold pain and hyperalgesia." | Link |
