My 5 year old son started with swim team and was in the water daily. Despite taking preventive measures he developed a severe otitis externa (swimmer's ear) in one ear with extreme pain and low grade fever.
After reading Debra Rayburn's book, "Gentle Babies", I mixed a solution of 2-3 drops each of Lavender oil and the Melrose oil blend along with 10-12 drops of V-6 mixing oil. I then placed 2 drops of this solution into the opening of his ear. I also rubbed a drop of the Thieves and PanAway oil blends behind his ear.
After 2 applications of this about 1 hour apart, he finally went to sleep for the night.
The next morning it was still a little painful to touch, but he had no fever. I placed the drops in his ear and Thieves oil behind his ear about 3 times during the day. Fortunately the infection was completely gone by bedtime!
