Hear is my experience with head lice. For one thing it's not a fun thing to go through but with Young Living it made it so much easier.. Thanks to Young Living products and please note, I didn't use any chemicals except laundry soap for the washing machine, but even then I added Thieves Cleaning solution.

My son who is 7, got head lice from school. I noticed in the 2nd week of summer vacation my son has head lice... He had at least 15+ live lice and tons of nits which are eggs. So I shaved his head. After doing that I checked my 5 year old daughter and she had them, but not as bad.

Only 4 that were alive and few eggs, but I couldn't shave her long blonde hair, so pulled out my essential oils reference book to see what to do. I ended up treating myself and husband as well, just to prevent it.

There are 4 recipes in the book so I picked one and then rotated them throughout the next 14 days. This is what I did and we were free of nits in 5 days and NO chemicals on my kids head! Every morning I did this recipe:

* 1 ounce of olive oil
* 10 drops Eucalyptus Radiata
* 8 drops Lavender
* 5 drops Geranium
I put this in a hair coloring bottle (due to it's easier to apply to the scalp of the hair). Then I put it on the scalp of the hair in layers/sections and then combed it through. When the hair was all coated, mainly the scalp, I put a disposable shower cap on. (Throw the cap away with every treatment)

You can buy these at beauty supply stores and are really cheap. Let this sit on for at least 30 minutes. I ended up with this on my head for over 2 hours one day, don't worry it won't hurt you. It actually helped my hair grow faster.

After the 30 min or so I washed everybody's hair with Young Living Lavender shampoo. (Only wash hair over a tub, due to the lice can attach itself onto body hair) Dry off with a towel then I did a rinse treatment.

* 1 ounce apple cider vinegar
* 4 drops of Eucalyptus
* 4 drops of Lavender
* 4 drops of Geranium
* 8 oz of water

I also put this in my coloring bottle and applied all over the head, making sure every hair strand was rinsed and then let air dry naturally. After it dried I went through the hair and picked out the nits (eggs) from the hair. After day 5 I didn't find anymore eggs, but kept checking!

I did this for a straight week then I did some of the other recipes in the book. After day 5, I didn't find any eggs, but just in case I kept doing these hair treatments for the 14 days and we became lice free without chemicals.

I also washed everything with Thieves Cleaner. Laundry - I did laundry soap but added Thieves cleaner and washed everything in hot water. I vacuumed my carpet and couches everyday, then I sprayed my carpet and couches with this mixture in a big spray bottle.

I filled a 16 oz bottle with water, 10 drops each of Peppermint, Lemongrass, Oregano, Thyme and the Purification oil blend. The things I couldn't wash I bagged up in large garbage bags and put out on the porch for 2-3 weeks. This I did because lice can not live with out humans.

Our whole family learned about and destroyed the lice and nits from our life with Young Living Essential oils. I didn't have to put chemicals on my growing children's brains to get rid of lice!

If you check on the web what is in the ingredients in the lice treatments, it would make you cry to know what we are doing to our children and these chemical ingredients. I'm just glad I didn't have to cry over that! Just cried because my children had lice.

I hope this will help others get through their own experiences dealing with lice and don't be afraid of using too many Young Living oils!
