Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

A few weeks ago I began experiencing bleeding gums when flossing along with frequently painful gums It became very difficult to eat with certain foods triggering pain.

The pain was like toothache that was either dull and constant or so severe I felt nauseated. I had been using Detarome Ultra and Thieves Dental Floss which were definitely helping but as my teeth are very close together, regular flossing is not enough for me.

I needed to do more for my gums, so my regime now includes brushing twice a day with Detarome Ultra, and adding a drop of the Thieves oil to my toothpaste. I rinse my mouth out with Thieves Fresh Essence Mouth Wash for at least 5 minutes.

The Thieves oil has made a huge difference to my gums. The bleeding has stopped, the pain is gradually easing and it's becoming easier for me to eat.

When I had severe tooth and gum pain, I used Clove oil for it's pain numbing effect. (Try to keep it off skin as it can be irritating). I highly recommend the use of a water flosser for the most efficient means of removing trapped food between teeth and around the gum line, if you don't find flossing adequate.

I've also begun massaging Myrrh oil around my gums. Thank goodness for Young Living products.

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: dental,gums,gingivitis,gum-disease — Study 1: "[Oil pulling] would benefit the general population by giving more confidence in the ancient practices, thus preventing tooth decay and loss." Study 2: "Oil pulling therapy has been equally effective like chlorhexidine on halitosis and organisms, associated with halitosis." Study 3: "The oil pulling therapy showed a reduction in the plaque index, modified gingival scores, and total colony count of aerobic microorganisms in the plaque of adolescents with plaque-induced gingivitis." Study 4: "Oil pulling can be used as an effective preventive adjunct in maintaining and improving oral health." Study 5: "The myth that the effect of oil-pulling therapy on oral health was just a placebo effect has been broken, and there are clear indications of possible saponification and emulsification process, which enhances its mechanical cleaning action."Link
2.Associated topics: bleed-/-hemorrhage — "[T]he level and duration of menstrual pain and the amount of menstrual bleeding were significantly lower in the aromatherapy group than in the placebo group. These results suggest that aromatherapy is effective in alleviating menstrual pain, its duration, and excessive menstrual bleeding. Aromatherapy can be provided as a nonpharmacological pain relief measure and as a part of nursing care given to girls suffering of dysmenorrhea or excessive menstrual bleeding."Link
3.Associated topics: bleed-/-hemorrhage — "[A] pulverized mixture of four herbs including Agrimonia Eupatoria (A), Nelumbo Nucifera Gaertn (N), Boswellia Carteri (B) [Frankincense], and Pollen Typhae Angustifoliae (P)... was first described in Chinese canonical medicine about 2000 years ago for treatment of various trauma disorders, such as hemostasis [bleeding], anti-inflammatory, analgesia [pain], and wound healing, etc.... [W]e showed that local ANBP treatment not only significantly enhanced wound healing by relieving inflammation, increasing formation of granulation tissue, and accelerating re-epithelialization, but [it] also reduced scar formation by decreasing collagen production [and] protuberant height and volume of scars and [by] increasing collagen maturity.... [Results show that ANBP] promot[es] wound healing and alleviat[es] scar formation, which may be an effective therapy for human wounds at the earliest stage."Link
4.Associated topics: dental, gums, gingivitis — "Both clove and benzocaine gels had significantly lower mean pain scores than placebos. No significant difference was observed between clove and benzocaine regarding pain scores. Clove gel might possess a potential to replace benzocaine as a topical [anesthetic] agent before needle insertion."Link
