I have found that applying the Melrose oil blend directly on cold sores helps to clear them up within a couple days, sometimes one if I catch it early enough.
I have used this oil when I've had the first 'feeling' of one about to start, and during an active flare up, and it works great in both stages.
If applying during the flare up stage, there can be a mild stinging sensation, but nothing lingers.
I put a drop or two on my finger, dab onto my lip where the sore is and then layer Vaseline over to seal it in. I do that 2-3 times during the day and again at bedtime.
