Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

If I bump my lower lip, I will develop a cold sore or fever blister. Usually, this is a long 2 week process of getting it to break open, scab and then clear up. It is often quite painful.

I woke up one morning with a huge blister on my lower lip and decided to consult the essential oils reference book. I put a dab of the Melrose oil blend on it and felt some tingling.

A few hours later, I decided to use a drop of Oregano oil full strength on the blister. Within a few minutes, I felt a tingling sensation go all the way down to my chin.

That night I had to go out and while I was getting dressed, I looked in the mirror and realized that the blister was gone and I had no more pain and no scab.

A few weeks later, I bumped my lip again and did the same procedure with the same results.

Now if I feel a cold sore coming on, I will apply either Melrose or Oregano immediately.

Supporting Scientific Studies
1.Associated topics: herpes,cold-sores-/-fever-blisters — "The presence of beta-caryophyllene in many essential oils might contribute strongly to their antiviral ability. These results indicate that phenylpropanoids and sesquiterpenes present in essential oils contribute to their antiviral activity against HSV [herpes simplex virus]."Link
2.Associated topics: herpes — "The patient was successfully treated with topical peppermint oil [for postherpetic neuralgia, a complication of shingles].... The authors believe this is the first evidence of peppermint oil (or menthol) having a strong analgesic effect on neuropathic pain."Link
3.Associated topics: herpes — "Essential oils from anise, hyssop, thyme, ginger, camomile and sandalwood were screened for their inhibitory effect against herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) [genital herpes]. A clearly dose-dependent virucidal activity against HSV-2 could be demonstrated for all essential oils tested. Chamomile oil exhibited a high selectivity index and seems to be a promising candidate for topical therapeutic application as virucidal agents for treatment of herpes genitalis."Link
