No matter what preventative measures I take, my dog regularly gets ticks because we spend so much time in the woods. I heard that the Purification oil blend worked really well at getting ticks to release, but I didn't have any on hand when I found a tick the other night.
I read that Lemon was helpful and tried putting a little on the tick, but it wouldn't release it's bite. Next I tried Peppermint. The tick released in a less than a minute and I gently picked it up with a tissue. No tugging or worrying that part of it was still attached.
The next time she got a tick, I tried Peppermint first (because I wondered if maybe the Lemon had started the release but it didn't happen until I put the Peppermint on) and the tick came right off again.
I put a little bit on my fingertip (not even a full drop, just enough to wet the tip of my finger) and dabbed it on the tick as close as possible to where it was biting my dog.
