My beautiful Arabian horse, Shakana, foundered. In horse terms, that means her feet hurt. It was to the point where she had to be in her stall with 6 inches of chips so she wouldn't be walking.
For an Arabian horse, how terrible! They like to be wild. They run like the wind with their tail and head up, feet never touching the ground. I was devastated. My beautiful horse was in so much pain.
I have been using oils for several years on myself and on my cat's abscesses, so now I thought to use them on Shakana. I rubbed her with Lavender to calm her. And on her feet I used Wintergreen, Helichrysum, and the PanAway oil blend.
I followed a daily routine, 2 to 3 times a day, rubbing her hooves, also on the soles (bottom of the hoof) massaging them with the oils, and putting on Lavender to calm her. With this glorious smell, her head down relaxed, she knew I was trying to make her feel better.
Within several weeks, I was able to let Shakana out of her stall and shortly thereafter, the pasture.
What a success!
