Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.

While walking on a leash, my dog Kaya, a 78-pound rottie/black lab mix, was apparently bit by a snake. She had stopped to investigate a swarm of insects, and perhaps that was where she encountered him, feasting on the insects hovering just above the ground.

I did not see the snake, but by the time we got up the driveway (about 100 feet and less than a minute later), she was holding her trembling leg up and out from her body and was kicking it with great force, as if to shake loose whatever was hurting her. On inspection I could see 2 small slits on her paw pad.

We ran inside and straight to the oils, where she sat and waited, watching me expectantly. She knows the oils and knew that I was going to get something that would help.

Her reaction was so strong that I was afraid to take the time to call the vet, drive to the vet, or even go to my essential oils reference book. I simply did not feel like I should leave her.

I grabbed Clove, the Purification oil blend, Frankincense, Lavender, the Peace & Calming oil blend and Helichrysum. We went to her bed, and I began applying a couple drops on her paw pad, one oil at a time. I also placed a couple drops into my palm and then held her paw tightly, closing my palm around her paw as I said prayers and sent love and Reiki energy through her body.

She was in crisis for about 30 to 40 minutes, eyes wide open and red, drooling, heavy open-mouth panting, drooling, heart pounding, and the leg constantly trembling and kicking so hard that she would break loose of my firm grip.

After about 20 more minutes and immediately following the application of Helichrysum the spasm stopped, and she wagged her tail. It continued to spasm off and on, but with much less intensity.

When I felt that it was okay to leave her for a minute, I went to consult the essential oils reference book and then applied more oils: Copaiba, Lemon, Melaleuca, Thyme, and Eucalyptus.

We did then call the vet but decided not to go, as she was clearly past the crisis point, and we trusted that the oils were sufficient. Anyone who has experienced a bond like I have with this dog will understand when I say, "We decided." I can read her, and she can read me. We were actually loaded into the car and sat looking at one another for about 10 minutes before deciding to go inside, trust the oils, and rest.

I then called my friend and loving teacher in Young Living who suggested the Raindrop Technique. So we used 10 more oils! By the end of the Raindrop session, Kaya had about 70 drops of about 20 different oils but was clearly out of crisis. She was calm and peaceful, breathing normally and drinking her water.

By that evening when my husband got home, she ran to greet him, throwing her toys into the air and bouncing around to catch them. (She's almost 11 years old, by the way.) We continued antibacterial oils on the pads for a few days after to make sure the cuts did not get infected.

Thank God for these wonderful oils! I love them more and more every day!!

Incidentally, Kaya got bitten once before (about 4 years ago) and had a much milder reaction. That time, one application of 2 drops of Clove put her at ease right away. Perhaps this time was more severe because she already had antibodies in her system or because she is older; or maybe this snake was more venomous.

Of course I am not suggesting that you not consult your veterinarian. I probably would have if I had felt that we had time. I just really felt that we did not have one minute to spare and that immediate action with what I did know was the best course of action.

May God bless you with the oils.
