Note: Not all essential oil brands are the same, and you get what you pay for. If you expect to achieve results similar to those described in this testimonial, then ensure that you are using oils from pesticide-free plants. Also, the brand should use 100% pure, high-quality essential oils that do not contain any synthetic additives. Do your own research or ask a trusted friend to find a brand that is reputable. Buyer beware.
My husband has worked the night shift for over 25 years now, and a restful sleep has often been difficult for him, partially because of sleeping during the day on the weekdays and then going back to night sleeping on the weekends.
He always said he could fall asleep okay, but he just couldn't stay asleep, that it was as if his brain couldn't shut off. He would often wake up, watch TV for a few hours or get a snack, and then try to go back to sleep again.
He was always tired, and if he tried an over-the-counter medicine for pain/sleep, it left him in a fog for a few hours, enough that he was hesitant to drive.
I just became a Young Living distributor a few months ago, and my "oil mom" recommended the RutaVaLa oil blend for better sleep. I started off diluting it (for a 5% dilution use 5 drops of RutaVaLa with a tablespoon of V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex).
I rubbed the mix in the palm of my hand and applied it to my husband's forehead, temples, and the mastoid bone behind his ears.
Then whatever was left on my hands I just rubbed on the back of his neck so it wasn't wasted.
The first time we tried this regimen was during the week, and when my husband woke up that afternoon I asked him how he had slept. (Believe me, I was anxious to hear his answer, as he is a skeptical, power-tool-loving, Harley-riding, manly man!) That first day he said that he had slept "pretty good", but he followed it up with, "But I was exhausted anyway."
The next two mornings I used the RutaVaLa on him again with good results, and by the fourth morning he was asking to be "oiled up", as my husband calls it! I ended up getting him the roll-on version of RutaVaLa to make application easier than mixing it in the palm of my hand.
It has now been almost a month that my husband has been using the RutaVaLa daily, and he won't go to bed without it! He is sleeping 7-8+ hours IN A ROW with no interruptions except for the occasional trip to the bathroom, but even then he is able to go right back to sleep. He is awake and refreshed when he gets up now!
Our sleep is SO very important, and RutaVaLa came into our life soon after my husband had read an article that shift workers normally live ten fewer years than non-shift workers because of how hard it is on the body's sleep schedule.
I am so thankful for Young Living Essential Oils! This sleep regimen has made such a big difference in my husband's life that he is recommending it to his coworkers.
I am happy to report that RutaVaLa has made a huge improvement in their sleep as well!

5. | Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout,anger-/-frustration,anxiety-/-worry — "Most studies, as well as clinically applied experience, have indicated that various essential oils, such as lavender, lemon and bergamot can help to relieve stress, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders. Most notably, inhalation of essential oils can communicate signals to the olfactory system and stimulate the brain to exert neurotransmitters (e.g. serotonin and dopamine), thereby further regulating mood." | Link |
6. | Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout,anxiety-/-worry,relaxation-/-rest — "The ylang ylang oil caused a significant decrease of blood pressure and a significant increase of skin temperature. At the behavioral level, subjects in the ylang ylang oil group rated themselves more calm and more relaxed than subjects in the control group. These findings are likely to represent a relaxing effect of the ylang ylang oil and provide some evidence for the usage of the ylang ylang oil in aromatherapy such as causing a relief of depression and stress in humans." | Link |
7. | Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout,sleep,anxiety-/-worry — "Lavender essential oil has been used as an anxiolytic [anxiety] drug, a mood stabilizer, a sedative, spasmolytic [muscle spasms], antihypertensive [high blood pressure], antimicrobial, analgesic [pain] agent as well as a wound healing accelerator.... The present study suggests that inhalation of lavender essential oil may be an effective and safe treatment modality in acute management of migraine headaches." | Link |
8. | Associated topics: stress-/-tension-/-burnout — "This controlled study showed for the first time that a 10% peppermint oil in ethanol solution efficiently alleviates tension-type headache. Peppermint oil thus proves to be a well-tolerated and cost-effective alternative to usual therapies." | Link |
